from the Chief of Police: Residents of the Village of Wonder Lake, your police department in an effort to better serve you, is asking for your cooperation when communicating a criminal act or suspicious circumstances. We would ask that you call McHenry County Sheriff’s Department direct. The McHenry County Sheriff’s Department dispatches all calls to the Village of Wonder Lake Police Department. This will ensure a more prompt response to your needs. The non emergency number for McHenry County Sheriff’s Department is 338-2141. Please do not call the Village Officials with a complaint pertaining to Village Ordinances. For all Village Ordinance Violations such as

is for all non-emergency calls only. Free Gun Lock Program The Wonder Lake Police Department recently received a grant from the Lieut. Governor's Office under the Home Safe Program. Any resident of the Village of Wonder Lake can come to the Wonder Lake Police Department and request up to two (2) free guns locks per person. ATV, (Off Road Recreational Vehicles) It has become a concern for the village as to the use of ATV's, within the village limits, being ridden by residents on private property, as well as public property. The Police Department is asking all parents to discourage the of riding these types of vehicles on private property as it causes a noise nuisance, and riders tend to leave private property, and ride on the streets. There have been reports of these types of vehicles being ridden on public property, parks, and retention ponds. This is strictly prohibited. Parking It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle on any public street, in the village, at any time, after a snowfall of 2 inches or more. It is prohibited for residents to deposit the snow from their driveways onto the roadway. The Police Department encourages all residents to drive safely in inclement weather, keeping in mind that there are residents walking & enjoying the season.
